Camera Lens Mug

Great until you groggily pour coffee all over your real lens in the morning.
Get your inner photographer out with the Camera Lens Mug, even if your best picture was taken with a disposable. You might get some strange looks from strangers when they see someone putting a camera lens in their mouth though or pouring coffee all over it though. Available in both Nikon and Cannon camera lens versions.

Both Nikon and Canon mug models are made with a easy to clean stainless steel lining. Also, a lens-cap lid, rubber-grip focus and zoom rings, and an auto-focus switch that actually switches. To top it off, the Nikon mug actually zooms when you twist its grip.

"Canon" is 3.3" diameter, 4" tall. $24
"Nikon" is 3.3" diameter, 6.5" tall. $30
Both hold about 11oz.

Windows 8 First Look

For those of you that have not heard yet, Microsoft is working on and nearing closer to a Windows 8 release. Here is an early look at the Windows 8 user interface.

The Windows 8 revealed in the video seems to be a touch based OS optimized for tablet use, however it is unknown if the desktop/ laptop version will be of a similar layout. This could be due to a shifting focus towards the tablet market which is increasing dramatically in popularity. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to whether this interface will be the default for non-touch PCs which Microsoft will have to clear up.

The design is incredibly different from previous Windows versions as it does away with the task bar in favor of apps, similar to Apple iOS. The interface features many aesthetically pleasing elements with a very fluid and smooth theme.

Cloud integration will likely be much more prominent in Windows 8 with Windows SkyDrive, rumor has is that Windows 8 will include the ability to have 3rd party cloud storage services as mapped drives.

Microsoft is also rumored to be venturing into a Windows app store, also eerily similar to Apple's app store. Not much is known about the Windows app store and its planned features, ZDnet has some leaked photos of what it might look like available here: Microsoft App Store

Since this is just a preview video some of these features may not be used, however we will be posting more on Windows 8 as major events unfold.

The Sandless Beach Mat

Summer is finally here and that means sun, sand, hot beaches and carefree fun. The Sandless Beach Mat from Hammacher Schlemmer is the perfect thing to keep the sand out of you know where.

Developed for military use and originally used to contain sand and dust when helicopters take off, the sandless beach mat is impossible to cover with sand. The mat is like a 1-way screen made with 2 layers of woven polyurethane that instantly filters sand through the mat back onto the beach and prevents the sand from reemerging from below. Measures 36' sq. from Hammacher Schlemmer, $59.95.

Starbucks Iphone & Blackberry app

How will I function in the morning without my $5 Caffe Peanut Butter Frappa-Latte?

Visit a Starbucks and you can now forget your cash or credit cards and pay for your drink with your smartphone. iPhone, Ipod Touch and Blackberry users just need to flash their phone to pay for their drinks with the Starbucks app, which functions the same as a Starbucks card.

Instead of using RFID of NFC the app displays a scannable barcode linked to your account. Just enter your Starbucks card number and add funds from your credit card, iPhone users can also use PayPal or take out a second mortgage.

In addition to paying for your drink, the Starbucks iPhone app can help you build your perfect drink (coffee. black.), look up nutrition info, and find the nearest Starbucks location to get your fix (because you know they are so difficult to find).
